Up In Da Club...

Ladies you must understand that when we say we are “going out with the boys” we don’t expect you to turn into the local district attorney. Just give us a passionate kiss as a reminder of what we are coming home to and leave it at that….Manlaw 3:16

Ladies you must also understand that when we are out with the boys situations can occur….Manlaw 3:17

For example, NBA players Jason Caffrey, Gary Payton and Sam Cassell (then-playing for the Milwaukee Bucks) got into an altercation in 2003 outside a Toronto strip club.

Recently, the situation went to court and Sam Cassell took the stand (hmm…there’s that second rule of engagement again).

The details are very sketchy (depending on who you believe) but one thing is absolutely clear. Payton’s wife, Monique, is the chillest black woman and spouse in the United States.

Why?

Ladies please memorize her comments about her husband's predicament in a 2003 Seattle Post-Intelligencer column by Susan Paynter.

“I don't care about that stuff," Monique said. "Guys are guys. They'll go to those places. And sometimes athletes can be targets for trouble. Other (NBA) wives ask their husbands, 'How could you go to that place? How could you do that?' But I say, 'Hey, I'll go with you if you want.' If not, at least I know where he is. All I tell him is to come home safe."

Ladies…I hope you were taking notes because brothers don’t like to repeat themselves…Manlaw 3:18

Um no ... Monique is NOT the chillest chic ... she's the most used and abused and dumbest chic for sticking around for so much abuse from this asshole ... I won't expound ...

Any chic that puts up with some ol' bootleg treatment like that, and SAYS it's ok, deserves that shyt!

And for any dude that's cool with treating a chic like that, using that "boys will be boys" mentality ... U're a PUNK!

Real talk.

"she's the most used and abused and dumbest..."

Wait a minute: This is the problem here. When a woman decides, as she's well within her right to, that she'll stand by her man no matter what, then she's used and abused? Hmm. Last time I checked, that's not exactly how it works when you're married. But then again, princess, you're single, right? Ok. I get it now.

As for you, vandy, I'm assuming you're happily married with children since you're asking all three of use if we're single?

there's only one problem with this theory of her being the chillest chic ever...

gary payton has made, oh, about $150 million in his career.

chicks put up with a lot of stuff for that kind of money.

i don't know where i stand on the "used and abused" argument.

i wouldn't call it abuse because it's not like ms. p is being held against her will.

her comments reflect the realities of being a nba wife. if you marry a nba player, he's going to get into shit. however, problems arise when some of y'all minor thousand-aires believe you can behave like a nba player without the nba salary.

one more thing: y'all brothas are mighty liberal about what happens with the boys and blah, blah, blah...

so, suffice it to say if your woman/boo/whatever goes out with the girls and just tells you, "shit happens with the girls," that's cool right?

riiiiight.

@jarrod...will do..

@princess imperial...it sounds like you have some inside information...why not tell it? Do you know these folks personally?

@J...here we go with the money thing again...lol. Can we separate the M&M (Money and Men) and just talk about men. I used a famous person and his wife as an example because the court case is hot right now. Manlaw 3:16-18 wouldn't change it I was using a personal anecdote or another "non-nba salary earning brother." I'm not one to instigate anything up in da club or on the street. If provoked, I would make an executive decision if and when to act and what type of response is necessary. Since, I see myself eventually marrying someone who thinks the same way...then I'm not going to second guess wifey if she felt she "needed to handle something." I'll have the bail money ready. Since I wouldn't make this an epidemic...I wouldn't let her make it an epidemic.

I'm down with this man law...I have NO PROBLEM with my man (when I have one) going to the strip club...hell I like to go too. I used to be like the other wives the chick was talking about...but when I lived in ATL I had a man that was in to going to the strip club and one of my girlfriends helped me to lighten up. 1 - My man always came home in a good mood and ready to put it down whether I went with him or not to the club. 2 - Every time I went, whether with or without him, I never had to pay for nothing cause dudes would buy me drinks. 3 - The ladies were dancing naked and me and my girls were dancing with clothes on...so it was just like the club except some naked chicks were walking around. I think people trip about too much insignificant stuff. As long as he ain't using the rent money to get lap dances why hate?

I must say that this blog is the shit!! I enjoy every entry.

I see nothing wrong with fellas going to the strip club. As long as he is not trying to sleep with the strippers or spend all the rent money on them, dont stress.

I think it's true that if you are with a professional athlete you just have to expect some shit to go down.
As for the strip club, I HATE IT!!! But if my man wants to go, he can go, mainly cause I got girls who will sit and listen to a quick rant right after he leaves. Then I can go to sleep knowing that he's coming home to me. In general it's all about balances.

I agree with Mystified on this. She summed it up nicely.
