I wasn’t fond of him when he played in the NBA.
I dislike him even more once I got word of the latest news, courtesy of the New York Post. If the allegations are true, former NBA point guard Kenny Anderson has some explaining to do.
According to the article, he has seven children with three different women and the reports are that he hasn’t paid up for at least five of his seven kids. Oh, did I mention he reportedly spends $41,000 a month on himself? I’ll leave out the fact that he’s made about $60 million in his 14-year NBA career and filed for bankruptcy last year for another argument on another day.
Now, I don’t know if these women have taken the necessary legal action against Mr. Anderson (if they haven’t I have no idea what they are waiting for) because leaking this type of information will only get them sympathy and not the paper that they need to take care of HIS kids.
I’m only going to say this once…Ya gotta pay, if ya gonna play (at least when kids are involved)…Manlaw 3:19
Mr. Anderson only has half the equation solved. He is reportedly playing basketball in Lithuania and is making somewhere between $750,000 and $1 million per year. I’ll give him a standing ovation for finding employment when the NBA basically said he was washed up. But, I can’t condone not filtering some of that cash to the kids he helped create.

Well in the words of the esteemed Hizzle this is totally "unacceptable".
Though manlaw is about brother empowerment, we are not above responsibility.
This fool here has seven kids and then dont want to pay. He has made over $60 million in his career and he has filed for bankruptcy. What in the hell!
Kenny needs to read Pimp's blog about black folx and their money ... he's ridiculous ...
I gotta play devils advocate here. Yeah, on the surface it looks like K.A. is playing the deadbeat role to a T, but there are way too many unknown factors here to be making judgements and calling the man out. First, what proof do we have that he is, indeed, the father of these children besides the women's word? I'm not saying he's not, but there's an equal chance that at least for some of the kids he's being targeted because he's a rich athlete; we know this happens almost daily.
Secondly, assuming he is the father, there needs to be a look at some things beyond money. Money alone doesn't raise children, and as a father I continue to be astonished and saddened at how many people -- especially black people -- continue to think of "child support" as merely a male sending money to the mother of his children. That ain't child support people!
Child support is making sure children are first emotionally supported and nurtured. It's making sure they have healthy relationships with both parents, not the physical presence of a mother and a big, fat check from daddy. Are we really saying that we'd be OK if Kenny Anderson cut some checks every month even if he never saw the children that belong to him?
I know for one that my children, who live in another state with their mother, have NEVER and will never ask me how much money I sent mommy last month. They do, however, ask me "Dad, when are you coming home?" and "Daddy, when can I come up to Boston to be with you." Unfortunately, black folks seem to be way too concerned with one side of that equation, and at the end of the day, no father can buy and no court can order our children out of the crisis they're in.
AMEN PGS!
Hey, wait, when did you start speaking some sense?
Oh yeah, a few posts ago! I am proud of you! He makes some very good points here. However, if he is the father and is not going to make an effort to see his kids, there needs to be something done on his part.
AND, the mothers need not bash him everything they get the chance to the kids either. That is just as bad. There needs to be responsibility on both ends, not just his!
Pimp and I have had discussions on this very topic and the arguements he present are very familiar.
I understand the emotional aspect of being a father is a very important thing to a child.
I am sure these kids are not starving and without clothing, but at the very least if you are not going to be there as emotional support, you have to take care of those kids. Perhaps not at the level perhaps the courts would say based on your income. Just because yo daddy makes millions of dollars, does not mean a kid should get $20 grand a month either.
Hell the average kid needs way less than that per month.
Did you need 20K per month growing up. I know I didn't but I came out just fine.
I read that today and was disgusted. IF the average man is taken to court for C.S. and sometimes has to find a 2nd job to make the payments, why shouldnt ATHLETES have their wages garnished too? and da hell he spent $60 million on....i wonder if he and Mike Tyson had the same financial advisores.....THe courts should take whatever money he getting now from the over seas team and divide up amongst the kids
negropino, i gotta say that's a pretty typical answer that goes nowhere toward addressing some of the things I said in my post. Let's go with your logic and say some court did decide to divvy up his earnings 'among his kids'. The first flaw there is that that money is not divided among his children at all; they're minors and the money would go to their mothers by default. That'd be fine if there were guidelines in place that guaranteed the money would be used for the benefit of the children, but as it stands no state in the union currently has any such guideline in place. Once a court makes a child support order, the money collected goes straight to mommy, who has to account for nothing. Sounds more like adult support to me.
Secondly, I think you need to go back and question your first statement about regular men having orders enforced against them that force them to work second jobs. That, again, is a flaw built into the system. Why is it that child support orders against men tend to be so high in the first place? Mind you, I am NOT advocating that men, women or anyone get away with not supporting their children financially. But you have to understand how the system works: the courts don't look at any acutal expenses incurred on behalf of the child; they simply take a percentage of the non-custodial parent's income and hands it over to the other parent.
So let's say i'm making $100 grand a year -- Does my children's mother really need say, 50 percent of that to raise them? If she does, should she not have to account for where she's spending that money to make sure it's not being abused while my children go without? And again, WHY IS ALL THIS TALK ABOUT MONEY NOT TAKING A BACK SEAT TO THE REAL ISSUE: WHERE IS THE KID'S RELATIONSHIP TO THE FATHER?
My 2 cents:
As Skinny said in Hizzle's words: This is "unacceptable"! If the kids are proven to be his, he should pay child support...end of story.
Now PGS...your views are very important and realistic. But, one thing has nothing to do with the other. Every kid needs love and a solid relationship with his/her parents, but they also need food on the table, clothing and money for school. Neither is a substitute for the the other. So, this NBA guy should be held responsible for his seeds...
Skinny: You're right we never needed 20K to be happy as kids, but, our parents weren't making millions neither. As today's court system is set-up, it's a certain percentage of the person's earnings regardless of what the total earnings are. So, I'd have to disagree and say that if he's making millions, then the kids deserve their share.
I hear ya, dynasty. The kids should be millionares too.
But I think the system should re-figure its percentage system and do a proportiona formula.
If I am not mistaken, it's like XX percentage across the board. So if I am making $100 K and it 35 percent, then 35K is a lot. But if I am making $1 million, $350,000 is really not that big of a deal.
aight, i'mma defend PG here a little bit because it's a couple key elements of this story that y'all seemed to have overlooked.
"...The girls, who do commercial acting and modeling, could be forced to drop out of their exclusive French academy next year if he doesn't pay, Roman said.."
"...I sold my Cartier watch so they could finish school last year," she said."
and then this...
"..At about the same time Anderson tied the knot with Roman, he met Suany Castro, with whom he had a 10-year love affair that ended in 2002 - overlapping his marriages to Roman and Wife No. 2, Tamiyka Anderson."
like PG said, it ain't that simple.
i'm not saying the kids don't deserve an exclusive french academy, but DAYUM. i mean, when my dad didn't come with CS, mofos was like either this can of green beans or this can of spam...
by the way, i saw his ex wife, ms. roman, on oprah. y'all know she's driving a car that says "hizmoney."
riiiight.
kenny's triflin, but he ain't the only one.
oh, and just so y'all know i'm not completely unsympathetic.
no. 1 way to prevent these cases:
wear. a. condom.
if i'm a NBA player, i'm treating my love juice like a WMD. ain't nobody gonna find it or get near it.
@skinny g...the bankruptcy thing is scary seeing that he has made so much money in his NBA career. Where the hell did it all go to?
@pimp...money doesn't solve everything...no one is saying that as an absolute truth (at least...I'm not). However, it is something when a man is not there in the physical sense for that quality time. I've already made up my mind that Kenny doesn't care (for whatever reason...maybe because he's ballin overseas or just doesn't see himself as married, 3-bedroom, 2-car garage type of brother) that's on him. I'm saying...if you're not going to be an active part of your kids lives'...make sure your kids are living like you are or better. At least...if that was me...that is how it would be done. Also, the child support system is flawed. No doubt. As a man, if you don't want to be caught up in that...there are ways to avoid it...as "J" bluntly put it in one of her responses.
@J...the "Hizmoney" plate is completely OUT OF ORDER...but funny. I'm sorry. Kenny played the game hard...Ms. Roman played it even harder...and she's got a lot of cash to prove it.
internet pound to robert mack for bringing up the david incident on real world...see, only us old-school RW watches remember that.
hell, america knew she was shady after that. how KG didn't know...i'onknow.
but something tells me ms. roman is still making KG pay for the 10-year affair, in which he had a couple kids.
shadiness attracts shadiness.
Boo for Kenny Anderson
And... he looks like a crack monkey in that picture. That'll be all from moi :)
Unfortunately you have to pay to play. This is what happens when you're this free with your dick. You end up with multiple children with various women.
I agree with PGS regarding emotional support taking precedence over exhorbitant child support payments but in the end, Kenny is not a victim. He failed to take responsibility for his reproductive health and had too many kids. No one's fault but his own. He was in the damn NBA so he knew that his sperm had a fucking bounty on it! Chicken heads KILL to have a baby by one of those fools! DUH! There is no excuse for his stupidity and he is paying the price for it now.
Men who *really* don't want kids or don't care to support a bunch of kids know what to do to not have them.
Ms. Roman is a gold digger? If the kids are his? Twilight zone for sure... These no good triflin athletes have been doing this mess for years. I am glad however that the brothas are speaking up with class and dignity.
We see so much of the otherside...sometimes America thinks that all black men are Kenny Anderson types.
Kenny is a disgrace and these women need to stop sitting up having ball player babies for ghetto street cred. The man was not into you, you were not married to him AND he has other children. Your breeding for show leaves nothing but a lost generation, fatherless children and a disgrace to the family he has in place!
After the fame...most of these guys go back to regular lives. When the limelight and money is gone...these females have no one to brag to and a bunch of tall unattractive, uneducated, fatherless children by a man they never really knew.
Think about it.
