Please come back on Sunday, April 12 at 7 p.m. as I'll host an online discussion about Steve Harvey's book "Act Like a Lady: Think Like a Man."
I agreed with about 65 percent of what Steve Harvey said. The book is hilarious and even if you think Steve Harvey is full of himself...the book is worth a look. On Sunday evening, I'm going to give the non-celebrity man's point-of-view of what Steve Havey was saying.
See you then.

This discussion should be good...I was intending to do a post on this because he made an apperance on Oprah two weeks ago that had me eyerolling for the entire damn hour.
My preliminary opinion is this...Steve Harvey is a douche for writing this book, and the women who are buying this junk need to really examine what he is saying and decide whether or not they're going to fake their way thru a relationship to please a man who needs this much validation about his place in the world.
He's basically claiming men are insecure babies who are threatened by what a woman can do for HERSELF and giving insulting suggestions to us regarding how we need to change to accommodate their fragile masculinity.
Who has time for that dumb shit? Why do I need some man telling me what kind of woman to be? Who is buying this mess?
Anyway I look forward to hearing about what exactly you agree with SP! :-)
@Childfree Sexpot...I saw his appearance on Oprah too and that's why I bought the book. I needed to know what he was telling women so I could be prepared for the questions that would come...because any woman that bought the book and believed what he was saying is going to drop 21 questions on her man...immediately.
But let's be real...Steve Harvey is only thinking one thing....$$$$$$$$ and that's why he wrote the book. Yeah...he probably wants to help people too but increasing his bottom line is a good part of it...or the book would be FREE!
He's a little too old school for me and we live in a new school world and he really has ya'll gassed up about some other things...but that's all I can reveal for now...come back on Sunday evening.
Whatchu mean "Here you go" all in my facebook?!?!
I have not read the book yet, trying to get thru the complete works of Jane Austen and some other recreational readings (and my turn has not come a the library). Plus, I might be obligated to a child relative's Easter pageant that evening, so we'll see. I'd like to sit in as one who has not cracked the covers.
My understanding from my girlfriends who snatched it up already, is that Harvey isn't telling us something new, just the stuff we conveniently forget everytime a new John comes into our lives with a little rap, then flips the script on us a couple of months into a relationship.
@Athena Nike...it was a tease to get you to come to the blog..and it worked.
Steve Harvey does make at least one valid point that I totally agree with and that's stop taking guy advice from your girlfriends.
Instead..every woman should have at least one male friend you trust (AND DON'T WANT TO SLEEP WITH) to run "background checks" on new men you are interested in. I don't mean actual background checks but what who he is and what he's working with. I do this for one female friend and I've been right about the guys she encountered almost every time.
Is this the gay male friend that can give you the low down on whether the brother is down low?? haha...
Steve is only partially right on the girlfriend advice. Yeah the hateraide can start to flow when the status quo changes for you and not them, but when they all can smell a rat, you need to slide some coffee beans under your nose and take another whiff of the brother sometimes.
Maybe I'll swing by Barnes tonight and get it, public library is taking too long...
@Athena...I put it on reserve at the libary too but when they told me that I was No. 81 on the hold list. I went out and bought the book.
